About

I'm Nolan Tong. I write about batteries, energy storage and the supply chains behind them.

I've spent my career in the battery materials industry, working at the intersection of cathode technology, supply chain strategy and international business development. My focus spans NCM, LFP and sodium-ion cathode materials — from precursor chemistry and sintering economics all the way to cell-level cost modelling and market positioning.

I'm based in China and work internationally. Having sat on both the technical and commercial sides of the table, I've developed a habit of translating engineering parameters into business language — and vice versa. That's what this site is for.

Here you'll find:

I write in English because the global battery industry needs clear, technically grounded analysis that isn't locked inside Chinese-language WeChat threads. My goal is to bridge the gap between upstream chemistry, midstream manufacturing and downstream market decisions — the kind of cross-layer thinking that gets lost when people only see their own slice of the chain.

If you work in batteries, energy storage or EV supply chains and want to talk, I'm always open to conversation.
